State of Texas
Office the Governor Texas Film Commission
Dear Phil,
Some time back, you were kind enough
to sent Tom Copeland a copy of Hollywood USA Tom passed it on to
me, because I’m the one in this office that generally fields
questions form hopeful actors, wondering where to go from here…and
I’m happy to say that I recommend your book a lot, and I include a
copy of your hot-to-buy-it flyer when I’m sending out other
information for novice talent. Hollywood USA is now part of the
Texas Film Commission library, and if it was up to me, it would be
required reading in every high school dram class.
Two comments, which I hope you’ll
take as criticism for future editions. A couple of errors sprang
out at me from the glossary section: 1) using “principle talent”
when you mean “principal talent”; and 2) your definition of
“loop.” Looks to me like the definition for “loupe,” and that’s no
help at all to talent. They need to know what it means to loop
dialogue, as in ADR. Other than these two comments, I’d give you
an A+.
You’ve put together a terrific
resource, and I’m glad to have it.. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Carol Pirie
